Directions: U.S. Highway 76 to Mining Gap Road (Across the road from Dollar General) 5 miles west of Hiawassee or 3 miles east of Young Harris
The newly constructed 37,161 square foot Recreation and Conference Center consists of a gymnasium containing two regulation high school basketball courts with Sport Court flooring, a handicap-accessible, elevated walking track, fully motorized bleachers, backboards and dividing curtain including a 1,500 SF exercise area—which also allows for volleyball and pickle-ball.
The 4,400 SF Conference Center has the ability to be physically and acoustically, subdivided into four (4) various sized spaces to accommodate audio/visual presentations, training seminars, and dance at the same time, and also opens onto an outdoor patio. Located on Young Harris mountain with a direct view of Lake Chatuge, the facility has concessions space and large storage areas to easily accommodate conventions and events for up to 1,000 attendees.
Available Facilities at Center: Indoor walking tract: available to anyone over age of 10. 2 indoor basketball floors- available to anyone. 4 indoor pickleball courts – available to anyone. Weights and cardiovascular equipment room – must be a resident of Towns County.
There is NO CHARGE for these amenities. Also available is a conference and meeting room included with a full kitchen, audio and video equipment. To inquire or rent this facility, please call the Commissioner’s office at 706-896-2276.
Outdoor facilities at this location include: 3 tennis courts, football/soccer field; 2 softball/baseball fields, and an open field space for various activities.

Come Exercise With Us The Recreation Department also offers Yoga, Tai Chi, and Zumba exercise classes each week at the Center. Schedules and fees are as follows:
